Not quite 6 weeks postnatal but I thought I would go out in my running gear and see what it all felt like.
BIG MISTAKE
After a 10min warm up I decided to try to jog a bit with the pram up the hill...a few things to remember next time:
1: Wear a better sports bra
2: Wear a tight bra OVER the sports bra...just in case
3: Don't try to run until the bra thing is worked out
I expected to feel all loose and flabby but feeling bouncy is a new one for me as I have not had the pleasure of having to cope with running with boobs before.
Apart from that it hurt all over as well and my hips and tummy felt like they were pulling - a weird sensation and not one I would like to repeat. I just am not ready for a run quite yet. I turned the run into a walk and covered 45 mins at a very fast pace. This worked well and my legs felt great and without the bouncing I could have been out there for ages.
I decided I would track my progress for my first 10 attempts at running and watch how I improve.
I'll wait a week before I attempt another run but in the meantime I will look at the bra situation and also continue to do a 45min walk each morning. Fitness first they say :)
Looking forward to meeting up with the Running Buddies this Saturday for a run (walk for me and Billy) and breaky.
oooh progress is going to be oh so slow........ :(((((((

I dream of having the 'bouncy' problem :-)
See you both tomorrow!
I'll lend you my Bras N Things catalogue.
I have that catalog too, in case Ewen isn't really ready to give his up, as far as Tesso's comment goes, was she talking about your boobs?
OK other bloggers, don't give me shit here. Clarie, this is for you only. I have a Berlei Style A236P in a 14DD that is doing the trick for the 6wk postnatal boobies - we did a 9k fun run on Sunday, and I ran properly with the jogging stroller - didn't have to shuffle to avoid the bounce. It is a Polyester/cotton/elastane moulded crop top style, with a 2-hook-and-eye closure at the back. It has a powermesh kind of fabric at the back. I like it because it's stretchy enough to not be tight, as with my other kids, reintroducing the running was an invitation to blocked ducts, from tight spots on the traditional kind of bra. Shop around - if you want one and can't get it, I could mail you one - it was $24- ish, at our Bonds outlet store. I reckon with the style number, you should be able to locate one up there to try on.
PS. I rocked up to the start of the fun run, planning to just toddle along the course - knew I could cover the distance, as I had to run 10k last week into town and back, when the car was on the fritz. But on Sunday morning, a lady rolled up alongside me at the back of the pack, with her toddler in stroller. I looked across at her - hot pink T-shirt and 3/4 tights - clearly not a "runner",and thought, nup, you are staying behind me. Anyway, Grete and I did 48min high, which is something for me to strat from. My aim is to win my age group next year, with Grete in the stroller again. Good luck with your programme - can anyone mind Billy while you do a bit of pool running? Would be good for your pelvic ligaments, as you will still have to work hard against the water, but without the impact. Course, it depends if all those northern friends of yours can be prevailed upon to hold bubba :-) Or you can park him in the stroller where you can see him, and just jump in and run near the edge of the pool. I have done that, and swum laps, in the quiet part of the day, with No. 3, I think it was.
Best wishes, DMH
