KNEE DIAGNOSIS

In response to RunDaves comments I thought I should post what went on with the non-ITB knee that was blown up.

It was put down to being a Popliteal Cyst (commonly referred to as a Bakers Cyst).
Nasty accumulation of fluid behind the knee which then results in swelling and limited range of movement in the knee - oh and pain!

Causes can be overuse, sudden knock or twist, knee cartiliage damage etc. Doc has assumed that it was so sudden that my recent long driving history (up and down the coast) with cruise control was a contributor and then to hop into bed and perhaps sleep with that leg bent - assisting with the build up of fluid.

So lots of ice, anti-inflammatories, rest and a compression bandage all led to it disappearing within 48-72hrs of first coming up.

Does that mean you can get back to running, Clairie? Sure hope so, for all our sakes but especially yours!
